For Michael

James Alexander

Angel or Devil

Silent wings in darkness came

a young man’s breath to claim.

Much too young to leave

a son too young to grieve.

We will never understand

was it God’s gracious hand

or some insidious calamity

to disrupt a loving family.

Though you live in eternity

our lives will most certainly

be devastated for the loss

but you still live in our hearts.

No more will the sky be as blue

as it was when seen with you.

Angel or Devil I can not say

nor reason why you were taken away.
