The Sea Is Calling

James Alexander

The Sea Is Calling

the sun rises over the sea

as I watch in early morn

changing indigo to a bright

crimson coloured dawn

seagulls floating up above

calling out from the sky

with voices mocking me

about their ability to fly

from bitter winter gales

silent windswept dunes

mounds of amber sand

protects the land from ruin

it’s salty ocean spray

blowing across the air

clings to clothes and skin

and soon dampens my hair

waves gently lapping

against the barren shore

in rhythmic measure

moving back and fore

wind blown mighty waves

and the fearsome roar

of breaking surf crashing

against a defenseless shore

the sea is calling out to me

whenever I feel alone

as it is close to sea

where I feel most at home

I must go down to the sea again to the wonderful sea and sky as the bard once wrote and you too capture the serenity of the ocean beautifully with imagery and descriptive text. ☺
