Respect.

Goldfinch60

In our lives we see things change,

And we see some things return,

Return to passed ways,

Coming back in style.

Things that we have seen before

But are new to the younger ones.

So the hope in my life is that a trend will return,

Return to our lives,

That trend of  respect.

Respect seems to have disappeared in life,

It is such a brightness on occasions,

On occasions when respect is seen.

Respect can bring such a bright future,

Such a bright future to us all.

So let us show that respect once more,

Show respect to all.

    A nice writing , Andy ))

I think there is respect but probably not enough . Some people are very rude and lacking in consideration ..

    • Goldfinch60

Thank you yellowrose, you are probably right there still is some respect but not as much as there used to be in my youth.

I understand … wanting things to be a different way .. I believe the world will be more peaceful in the future .. we can hope 🙂

If only.... but it begins in the home. We all begin as brats and are encouraged out of that selfish brat stage by discipline..... a commodity sadly lacking....
It seems to be a trend among youngsters to respect only the knife wielding power of bully boys.

How to repair society..... well look at the things youngsters see on TV.... football heroes allowed to cheat, fouling all the time, feigning injuries, prime ministers accused of dual standards, royalty accused of sex crimes.... on and on and on.... all that needs to change if respect is once again to enter society from the bottom up.

Thought provoking writing Andy. The thought that i will be shown disrespect for being an old fogey keeps me off the street in the cities.

Your words are very true d a. We were brought up to show respect for all but the discipline that made us that way is now seen as a cruel way to treat the youngsters.

        • Rozina

Respect is seen by some as a sign of weakness even. A sorry state of affairs. An important message from your poem.

          • Goldfinch60

Thank you Rozina, probably true but to me respect is a strength and is so meaningful when it is seen.

I think people wind themselves up in the morning, then totally spin out of control the rest of the day. 21st century living, everyone is nuts.

              • Goldfinch60

                True words Paul, thank you.

Just as politeness is now viewed as weakness, respect is a sign of cowardice.
There is a marked shift in society which today rewards and honors obscenity, stealing, crookedness and falsehood, amongst others as virtues.
An exceptional post to end the past.

                  • Goldfinch60

Thank you Suresh. What you say is so true.
