Snow

James Alexander

Snow

Snow has fallen throughout the night

covering every branch and tree in sight.

A blanket of snow covers the ground,

not a footprint or animal track around.

Deep, silent and glistening white

a gift from Heaven to excite;

bending small trees into bows

with a fresh set of winter’s clothes.

Just right for children to play

making angels where they lay,

men and women out of snow

and icy balls in which to throw

or to have joyful fun instead

by racing downhill on a sled

and then its back to their homes

for hot cocoa and buttered scones.

Snow can be a wonderful delight

as long as we don’t lose the sight

of the playful children in us all

as we age from Spring to Fall.

Thanks for the read. To wake up this morning to such a beautiful sight was the inspiration.

Yes, we must not lose that childlike nature that we all have in us.

          lovely,
in UK, we had the warmest New Year's Day since records began..
but I'm hoping we may get a few drops of snow before Spring..
          thanks for sharing
          I sated my need
for a white festive season, vicariously
          through your pic and write..

This is the first significant snowfall we have had in over three years. It was a welcomed sight. The day before the snowfall it was 65 F !! Strange weather. Hope you get some white.
