Sittin' On The Dock Of The Bay

Garth Rakumakoe

Sittin' on the dock of the bay

withering away with passing time,

flowing happily with the tide

are the memoirs of our pictures

living souvenirs in my eyes

Ferried by the last ripples

on the water, setting

with the orange sun

is my feebly ebbing hope

to soon capture the motion picture

of your ever radiant smile

that in your very absence I paint

and visualize, on the water

gone with the summer rains

It gives me great warmth inside

to know

sittin' on the dock of the bay

that this portrait of you

will always be mine

Makes me think of the Otis redding song .. on the dock of the bay

              Sad reflective write.
It's strange how water can bring such emotion to the fore. Maybe it's the journey the water senses in us.
Good place to be, mind you, and the song ain't half bad.

              • Garth Rakumakoe

Funny you should say that Paul cos, in hindsight actually my second title for this piece became "On The Water" but I had already published it, synonymous with the song as it is, well, at least in title. Very true what you say about water. It is a living organism, in my view. Thank you for your time sir. Much appreciated. πŸ™πŸΌ
