A Wild Folc Tale

Saxon Crow

There's a story to be told for a spiteful child

Who picks on the creatures and all things wild

It's a simple tale with truth to be told

And though for the young the wisdom is old......

At the bottom of the garden

In a thorny bush

Lives some forest elves

With fiendish looks

They will try and trick you

To play with them

But never think that they'll be your friends

For these tricksy little fellows

Only 12 inches tall

Can enslave and ensnare you with a single call

And then you'll be held against your will

While they shrink you down

'til your one foot small.

And once they've cut you down to size

Then you're in for a bigger surprise

Because the frogs and the slugs and the mice and the beetles

Whom you've trod on and tortured will all try to eat you

And the only thing that might save poor you

Is to say that you're sorry for being so cruel

But your heart must mean it

because empty words

Are never ever heard by the beasts and birds

So my advice to you my cruel little child

Is to learn to respect all things wild

Because you never know who has their eye on you

The animals, the birds or the woodland elves

Be nice to the wild and it will be nice to you

And remember that nature wasn't made for fools

There's a world out there that needs to be seen

With keen, kind eyes

And with a heart less mean

And this world full of wonder will be good for you

Otherwise it will show you what it  means to be cruel
