my mind took me today
way back into childhood's past
about the age of nine or ten
to familiarity of a farmers field
i knew so well among the company of boys
their faces nor names no longer recalled
and to a pond near the hillside top
where we discovered newts
common newts of camoflaged green speckle
and their larger black salamander brothers
with pink bellies bespotted in black
learning, enjoying and leaving behind
a boyhood adventure of discovery
just a five minute mind slip to a yesterday
all in a smile of content
a near lifetime away on a whisp of whim
where my mind will wander as it will
for no reason but to glimpse one part
of a day in this life once more

Andy
Crawdaddies & tadpoles here. Thought provoking & nostalgic piece.
'and to a pond

we discovered newts

of camoflaged green speckle

a boyhood adventure of discovery
just a five minute, mind slip
to a yesterday'..
(in my second primary school
we had a similar pond
where, I too - left behind
such similar memories
and so, these words of yours
read
especially poignant, to me...)
thank you for sharing, Dusk
a Great read!
Odd isn't it how a forgotten memory suddenly arrives in your mind. Thanks LBM.
As we get older we all seem to do this more and more as youth is truly wasted on the young i wanna climb trees and roll down hills again โบ
Your memories down the
lane
Made me remember the pond in which ducks waddled
Where i used to go for morning walks
Bak then i was really scared of the ducks
Donโt know why but i was
Thanks dear dusk for sharing such treasured memories
This brought back some great memories of my grandpas farm๐๐๐Thanks dusk๐โ๏ธ๐
