"Tupac Used To Rap For Me"
I took to black culture, cause there was no dad for me/
Everyday he got more colder, Tupac used to rap for me
Had me feeling like a soldierrr, was something I could be/
I used to pray to Jehovah, hoping he'd get back to me
My family hate me bad, I think they have it in for me/
Yet I'm very good at rap, so I don't need your sympathy
I'm supposed to be a dad, but my child I do not see/
I reach for a pen & pad, so I can smile through the misery
Thinking what they did to me, & what they did was wrong/
They had me sent to prison, for the lyrics in my songs
I never had a daddy, and I never had a mum/
I've never had a home, nor a place that I belong
Plagued by my demons, I had no strength to carry on/
Until that fateful night, when I first heard that Tupac song
Now when I write it's like, I'm writing with his ghost/
And who I am to deny, when it's him I rate the most.

Tupac! may he R.I.P
despite all of his, off career
faults
is still, my personal favourite
admittedly
an accused and jailed rapist, allegedly
so I can't boast my opinion
so ignorantly,
but his lyricism, delivery and voice
I could never falter
or find in other great's, such as Nas
or Talib Kweli...!
(thanks for sharing
and inspiring, these
'off the dome'
freestyle bars, as my
wannabe lyricist, reply
poetically) lol
Tupac will forever be the Don. May he rest peacefully. Beautifully written poem.
