Fountain

Jabberwocky

I might have been quite funny

Those nights I sat alone

If I’d had someone with me

Or someone on the phone.

I’m sometimes quite amusing

Some have sometimes said;

All those I’ve amused being

Gone, or else are dead.

White stands out the most

Against the deepest black.

What is loved and lost

‘Gainst what we, needful, lack

I wrap my arms around me

With love and gentle care

And hold in tender memory

Those loved who are not there.

This business then of living

I hope I have it sussed

It’s all about the giving,

And getting? Not being fussed.
