Respect For All.

Goldfinch60

Our world is changing,

Changing so much

And the one thing that I see,

See more than anything else

Is that respect has gone.

In my youth respect was all,

You said please and thank you,

You were polite to your elders,

Gave way to ladies,

Opened doors for all.

But that has gone,

That respect no longer exists.

Occasionally I see it

And it means so much,

Means so much to me.

In my life I still try my best

And show respect to all,

Be polite to all,

But I feel very alone,

In this changing world.

Funny old world innit .... I must confess, I think about this issue often .. you have certainly done justice to your topic of the moment sir ......... Neville

      • Goldfinch60

Yes it is Neville, respect and politeness cost nothing.

Sadly agreed with your every word here dear Andy - - with no respect the result bring such changes to both the community and the whole world.

          So true Fay, thank you.

That’s a sad truth we face…those who even respect are named old fashioned today…it feels bad when basic etiquette is missing…isn’t our education system then just a waste if it can’t teach even basic etiquettes…
          Well penned dear Andy

          • Goldfinch60

Thank you spilleronsheet, yes it is a sad truth that respect has gone.

I totally agree with your sentiments.. No respect whether in schools, workplace, general community etc. Just have to keep instilling respect in our children. Good write.

            • Goldfinch60

Thank you Rozina, Respect seems to have disappeared from life.

              indeed
              when 'We' gutted
              the fear-based, moral constructs
              of religion's foundations
              (rightfully, in most scientifically logical
              respects)
              from society's
              cultural wisdom and underlying mannerisms,
'We' neglected to place a stoppering
              equivalent, to minimise
              our losses, of the civility
              way of life
so many bled, to uphold and protect..
              (an arrowed write
              to the heart
              of all the gangrene, decay
              in our
              progressively 'woke' modernity)
              when Nietzsche wrote
              that absurdly, abused term
              'God is Dead'
              I believe, if anyone
              read that full text
              rather than
              merely quoted it, for convenience
              they would quickly realise
he was pleading for us to consider
              'Now what...?!
How da F'ck, we gonna replace
              all those upholding makeweight's
              for polite civility's
              decorum and restraint.
              Now! ... What?'

              • Goldfinch60

                Now what indeed Mek!

I too was taught about respect and took it onboard as a youngster. It is a pleasure to be respectful to folk and sometimes we are rewarded to see such respect be appreciated.

                • Goldfinch60

Those occasions when respect is given back it feels so wonderful d a but it is becoming more and more obscure.

                  Living in a big city as I do,I completely,...and respectfully😀 agree. Words of truth,good one!✌️🕊

Thank you fallenAngel!, it is the same in the smaller town where I live.

I've never lived in a small town. I've heard it said, everybody knows everyone's business, but I always portrayed small town people to be polite as they have to live together in a much more true scence of the word than big city folk. I guess it's a misconception.
