in the shade
of life's willow
late in their days
they lay as one
to the music
of promise
whilst sands fell slow
across the seeds of time

Andy
Thank you Goldfinch.
A love story here. Beautiful.
Yes, a new love found for two people of advanced years is what i tried to depict here.
So few words but so truly beautiful . Love this ))

thank you, wise Poet
Thank you indeed LBM.
So many shades you painted
Shading and shining in life
Thanks dear poet for such beautiful lines
It's the colours of life, all the richer for the later years.
Sounds like it's about 2 lifelong soul mates late in their years who've excepted their lives are coming to a close. Just as the faced life together, they face death together Not sure if I'm right or not,but that's what I see in your words here.
What I had in mind here was.... two older people find love..... love is always the bringer of music into our lives and love also brings the chance of future happiness...... time takes on a new pace for these older lovers in their late years ..... older folk are cognisent of the fact that many have died much younger than their age..... the sands of time fall slowly and each moment is now of such importance and savoured.
Oh,ok. thanks for kindly explaining. I apologize for having to do so. I should have gone further in school lol😆
Not at all mate, i'm sure each reader will interpret my words in their own way. Lets be honest, out life experiences together what is happening in our individual life today heavily influence the mental picture we create whilst reading poetry.
This is so true.
There's a sadness to this poem, like the final record playing at the end of life. Also, nice in a way, we all want to go that way.
Such a sweetly poignant brevity! so beautifully touching, deep emotion expressed in so few words...
Late in the day age-wise brings its own music of promise and you spelled it out so very well here in these few gentle lines my dear friend.
