What Is Your Name?

Goldfinch60

Into my mind a new fact is born,

More knowledge comes to me,

So intriguing and so wonderful.

These new things are so important,

So important for me to remember.

The problem is though

That at my age every new fact

Means that an old one falls,

Falls out of my memory.

“Now what is your name?”

Well, I'm not recommending it but, for memory altering/loss try a few cycles of chemotherapy and see what happens to it. It certainly robbed me of a lot of stuff. People recount me doing things of which I have absolutely no memory at all.

I think and hope to give that a miss d a.

It is terrifying sometimes to not remember what we were going to do or going to say; the person is so recognisable but the name is on the tip of the tongue but just won't come out. Very relatable poem. I've been reading about techniques to try and improve memory. Now what was the 1st step again?! Thank you.

Yes Rozina it is very frightening sometimes. I think the worst time is when you see somebody out of context, you know them well in a particular environment but if you see them in a different place the name does not always come to you.

Who's Fred? Oh,I get it lol 😀 I remember in my grief for the loss of my mom, thinking how great it would be to loose my memory,..no memory,no pain. What a foolish thought,so foolish in fact I feel a little ashamed for having it,..and just plain stupid. My name? You can call me anything you want, just don't call me late for dinner 😊✌🕊

Thank you WJG, so true some memories are so sad in our lives that they are always with us, equally the best moment in our lives are with us as well.

A brilliantly written, but very poignant stanza here Andy.

I suppose that there is a quality over quantity of retaining data at work here, as with all age groups, it can be quite hard to manage such an onslaught of information.

Bravo, and I hope all is well!

Thank you Ben, we do seem to have too much information coming to us these days.

It seems to be true. As I grow older my memory does falter at times. But that's life too. Well written

                • Goldfinch60

Thank you soren, yes it is true but we are still here.
