the subconscious banishes better than i ever could

melellendixon

refusing to look me in the eye
you prolonged your departure for
as long
as possible
sadistic pleasure found in the way my nails
clung
to your back, begging you to stay
and i'll never forget the way brittle bone snapped
much like my mind
now, even in security
i have the tolerance of a man drunk with power
as i sit, legs crossed
skirt and heels
