Notice of absence from Doggerel Dave

It’s still hot wet and humid this summer,
Weather forecasts consistently tell us this.
But do I need these determinations?
Enough I wake up to a big damp kiss.
And this has nothing to do with passion;
Couldn’t be more the opposite in fact.
This year I have never felt more woeful,
I’m extremely wrung out to be exact.
So there’s some who will come the Old Soldier -
Tell me I don’t know nuthin about nuthin,
(That spray of negatives really went well)
‘You go try February in Darwin’.
What - it’s worse than this damp version of hell?

I love your whinges and this piece of rhymed sweating through extra heat describes more than perfectly how vexing that damping can be. A cooling breeze waft over the waves from Cornwall and me to your woeful brow dear suff'rin' Dave.
Thanks Fay - all contributions gratefully received by this puddle of humanity unfortunately situated on the underside of Earth.
I'll join you in whingeing (whinging?)! It's almost always hot, wet and humid in Penang, Malaysia. I sympathise as our temperatures are probably not as high.
Most of the east coast of Australia is suffering from the kiss of a lady, La Nina by name. Though I find it hard to believe that you are cooler in Penang.... Perhaps you are more used to this?
Thanks for your call - I'm off to find out what you have been up to recently.
I was in Penang just before Covid hit ................................... it certainly was hot n sticky but loved it π
Penang is a great place to live in, especially the variety of food available 24 hours. I spent many summers in Melbourne and on occasions the temperature reached 40 or more. Our daily temperature here is around 30 or so but humid with afternoon thunderstorms sometimes.
That 'damp version of hell' can be so very intolerable Dave, may the sun soon dry up your hell.
Andy
Your wishes duly noted, Andy - please sort out La Nina and exercise some of your goodwill and affability.
Blimey & we were hoping to pop over later this year or early next ........... π
Will not be La Nina which prevents your progress, Nev - more likely a fickle political environment.
"Oh Summer" - How I miss her. Sub-zero temps, "feets" of snow, and high winds here. Welcome to Groundhog Day. Your whinging gave my soul some relief, a momentary sense of sweltering heat and humidity. Thanks for making my day just a little bit more sane. - Phil A.
Wasn't my intention Phil - drowning in my own misery, I had no idea that someone else might find something positive there. Whereas you freely gave me a fleeting feeling of coolness. Ideally I'd like to experience a steady state somewhere in the middle as I'm not that keen on extreme cold either. Some chance....
A wonderful, poetically penned
winy, sweltering, hellish whinge
I must say! Blistering imagery
just 'bout melted me away! π π
Thanks for sharing Dave! ,ββ
Best regards βοΈ Thad
Cheers Thad - I'd almost forgotten it. May be up for revival this year as summer progresses.....
