Jukebox Heroes (A Song for the Musician)

AuburnScribbler

V1

A million songs, have our heads aching,

When we strum and beat, you’ll see us shaking,

For we take the rough, with the smooth,

But we shall continue, with our groove.

Pre-Chorus

All requests, come through the door,

But I beg; no “Angels!” or “Wonderwall!”

Chorus

For we’re your jukebox heroes,

Dedicated to your ease,

But if you want to see these shows,

Buy your tickets please.

V2

An empty pub corner, we’ll make shine,

As for us, we play, for you, it’s dancing time,

We add our spice, thus, there’s no carbon copies,

The result is clear, you’re all moving your bodies.

V3

Part roadies, are we, so no need for the gym,

Lifting these speakers, strengthens our limbs,

“Thank you, kind sir, for the free beer”

We’ll play for you again, in the new year.

  • Comment from author about the poem: After a run of some good shows recently; with my old band mate Ant, I thought I would write a song about the jobbing musician. Accompanying the song, is a PNG image from pngitem.com; of a silhouette of a rock trio, that I thought was quite apt, as the other band I’m in, is in fact, a trio. I hope that you enjoy the song, and as always, please stay safe everyone.

Great poem : lyrics . I bet it’s good to be in a band ?

Thanks for the read yellowrose, and yes, being in a band/bands does have it's perks from time to time, but also just like everything, there can be some downs.

But, when it's all said and done, I really do love an audience full of smiles, and that is a most rewarding thing to see indeed.

Thanks again, and I hope that all is well!

I enjoyed your poem, the lyrics are great. So nice to be able to play and sing in a band or to entertain family and friends. I am still practising basic guitar chords.

Thanks for the read Rozina, and it is a really cool thing indeed, to put on a show for loved ones and the masses.

I hope that your guitar journey is going well, and at some point you can grace the stage yourself someday.

Thanks again, and I hope that all is well!

Great words Ben and so very true, the bands that play in pubs do not get enough credit for what they do and how good they can be.

Thanks for the read Andy, and for defending the jobbing musician.

You've given me a very kind comment indeed, and I hope that all publicans and pub goers, can be a bit more accommodating from now on, especially after the horrible two years just passed, I think everyone deserves to smile, and have a good dance now.

Thanks again, and I hope that all is well!
