Armed Rules

Fay Slimm.

Armed Rules.

War, when begun throws its gun-ridden challenge
of thorns to all fighters
caught up in foe-hunting to hurt, wound and
kill combatant rivals

until all start forgetting who spilt first blood, who
launched shooting of hate
into youth's frame when taught armed rules
not of their making.

Harm no longer accepted sees it insane for rage
to stain red fragile earth
when peace-parched forces yearn to stave
off battle-lines learned

for when life is read rightly hearts pity and cool
iron once smoking hot,
terror will capture no more as hands lose
need for firing best shot.

Celled in same grief enemies readily call
for fellow-despoilers to cease from war.

The disgusting confused savage pointless slaughter that is war looms over us once more around Ukraine. Where every bullet plants an acorn of vengence to blossom, watered again by bloodloss.

Survivng combatants know all this and the wisdom of your words today. But mothers will speak of loss through their tears and young in years, tomorrows aspiring heroes listen to nourishment of hatred. Oiling the cycle wheels of war and peace.

Your thoughtful comment covers the dire situation so well dear Dusk - - let us hope all such written appeals get at least some listening ears.

A heart plunging take is a war
And you wove those expressions so effortlessly
I always feel sad to think that peace is so expensive
At the loss of so many lives….you wrote effortlessly with poignant imagery…..a sadness crept over….Miss Fay you captured the emotions so well

Yes sad indeed is the fall into war whatever the reason my friend - many thanks for posting your thoughts on this sad subject of Armed Rules.

        'harm no longer', morphed
        in-to, 'insane for rage'
        till we're all doomed, by
        'terror will capture'
        and once more
        'Celled
in same grief enemies readily call'
all because, a few days of peace
        makes us forget
        and we're unable to discourage:
        'fellow-despoilers to cease from war.'
        (such true words
on the grim realities of humanity's warmongering, hereditary plague..)
how I cherish, this wisdom you so generously
choose to share with us, dear Fay
        thank you!
        (please, forgive me
for playing around with your words
        I meant no disrespect)

No probs at all with your welcome comments on my small effort of appeal to those bent on war and its rules dear LB. - - much appreciated are your thoughtful reviews and their genuine support my dear poet-friend.

Thank you Fay for your polished poetry.. But I've got nothing to add on this topic; I'm exhausted by it.

Such fine and true words Fay, the wars that we have had have taught those supposedly in charge of countries no lessons at all.
          “MAKE LOVE, NOT WAR!”

What a reflective write this is, dear Fay. I love the way you close it. Ribbon tied. Compelling all the way!

I think by now you know my feelings, thoughts and attitude to war .. This is wholly brilliant Fay .. I couldn't agree more ... So there you are .. Cult part formed ... maybe x
