A different love

sorenbarrett

I am darkness

Without which there could be no light

I am pain

Without which there could be no bliss

I am hatred

Without which there could be no love

I am the dog, awaiting his master's return

Kicked for blocking the gate

I am the goat, led outside the city walls

To be torn apart by wolves, to redeem those within

I am murky water, washing the dirt from your hands

Discarded as no longer fit for use

My vapor rising to the heavens

Will fall on you again, clean and pure

I will continue to guard you with my life

My blood and bones will fertilize your fields

And I will wet your fruits and grains

Causing them to grow and ripen

For I have not the courage to fight your battles

Nor the strength to bear your burden

My place is to take your disgrace

Wow I love these dualities you present like darkness and light and hatred and love. It's so true, there can't be one without the other. In order for life to continue, death is an inevitable. Lovely piece! 👏💕
