One Word

Sonoran Bard

One word.

A single word wrong.

I’m not perfect or good enough to judge.

But a pronoun mix-up seems like an honest mistake.

One that could send thousands back to the water.

An easy fix, re-baptize and send on their merry way.

Not today Satan, we’ll get the words right this time.

Funny how one word is a enough to get a priest to step down for good.

While we watch a bishop shuffle every time they get caught with a child.

A slap on the wrist for repeated molestation,

One wrong word for thousands of damnations.

One word.

Wow! This was punched with meaning and I felt the power. By any chance, is the word "He?" You mention pronoun so just my take on it. 💖🧐

Good guess! Actually, this poem is about a catholic priest who messed up a pronoun (swapped 'I' and 'We') while baptizing people for about 20 years, and resigned because of it.
