Pain by Candlelight

Charmaine Bartlett

Pain by candlelight

no music

nor any sound is heard

inner voices silenced

Did I not know

know

much earlier

what would transpire ?

Did I not intuit

the tears

that cascade

the very blood from my heart ?

I had hoped, waited,

and dreamt

of redemption

from this river of loneliness.

I really spare every apathy for poetry if you keep displaying such delicious pieces to my table mama.
