Learning to Lean.
Why, I ask, do even young moor-trees strongly
out-face each storm flung attack ?
Bark, tho' wind blasted and gnarled stays alive
with ironized knuckles and scars
learning to lean although pummeled black.
Fragile their shoots grow under-ground claws.
Would that I know just how they survive.
Does innate will-power perceive gale's fight aims
to split limb from frail limb
but meets every battle with same inner force
inner force as when rooted in Self skin cells revive ?
Ah now I see mother nature's free lesson and
understand how better to thrive.
Like the stance of a bent moorland tree may
all human life-challenge be met
by learning how useful is curving when pain
from stress calls out for help.

Excellent metaphor.. Although here some old giants manage to fall over and break with heavy winds...
Yes Dove - there comes a time for yielding to fate as some crash to the ground when battered and aged. So pleased you enjoyed the metaphor too.
Dove kind of took the words write out of my mouth .. metaphorically speaking that is ... quite brilliant Fay .. x
Sincerely my thank yous for your kind review and hope things are a bit quieter for you at the moment - hope all at your end of the line makes walking possible this windy morn dear Nev.......... roofs and more here are flying around so am staying indoors ...... x
Thanks for the poem, Fay. Very appropriate timing for what, if reports are to be believed, is a pretty rough time for many in the UK and Europe. Not used to it are you? Take care and stay safe, please.
I read about the very strong winds and the dangers they bring. The flexible thin trunks bent by the winds compared to 'stronger' bigger trunks which can be broken teach us a lesson. I enjoyed your poem.
I have seen may trees like this when Joyce and I used to walk among the Yorkshire Dales and it shows how strong Nature can be and that strength needs to be in us as well. Wonderful words Fay.
