Not Wanting to be Famous
Wanting to be big, to be better,
or best, to be noticed,
looked up to, respected, revered ..
Indeed, to be famous,
is not at all, what he wanted ..
On the contrary, it was something,
he rather detested,
despised and he feared ..
After all said and done, he cared
nothing for attention ..
For the most part, he preferred to be
left on his own ..
And in a moment of anguish,
he went on to prove it, by kicking away
that very same plinth
they all seemed determined
to hang him on ..
So when no one was looking, he made
one final statement
and he died there beneath it,
all alone and unnoticed, the very next day ..

Sad writing . Sometimes we want things in life that are not what we truly want .. and it just makes us miserable . So why reach for things that just leave us hurting .

Famous, rich, seem to have everything (in our eyes), and then news about their suicides. Incomprehensible to many of us. Masks on hiding their real anguish. Sad one.
You got it Roz ................................................... & sadly, I thank you for checking in & checking out these words ..................................................... Neville
Sort of reminds me of Captain Tom. Just wanted to raise a few quid for charity, which he did. Now the fallout has happened, the charity's being investigated, the family are getting abuse, and it just goes on.

Today no time to be famous when Social Media so rampant.
There's appalling damage done to people via that medium where anonymity is assured
