The Tree

edithsarcher

When you come, you always turn

To see your face, I forever yearn

You never say, it’s time to go.

I simply watch with emotions I cannot show.

To protect you, my aching desire

Your beauty demands a rustling choir

I shelter you when you are near

But can I really drive away your fear?

I whisper words you cannot know

Tussled leaves, muffled by winds that blow

And to not be heard is the pain I bear

That you will never know my abiding care

Yet my roots are deep and I will remain

I stand for you in sun or rain

And when you need me I will be

Like the mighty standing tree.

What a bittersweet poem! I felt this emotion and longing for recognition. You displayed it lovely with the tree metaphor and it fits aptly with the message. Hopefully that special someone will see you eye-to-eye and say "thank you." 💖
