Irony

claudi_a

Growing up we joked a lot

We joked about being sad

we joked about having anxiety

we joked about depression

and we still do

but it's different now

because we were clueless back then

and if I had to read the words I am writing now

when I was younger

I would've thought it was a joke

And that it was a call for attention

which is why it's so hard to ask for help

because even I would laugh at myself

And we joked some more

about being "empty inside"

And we laughed like it was the funniest thing ever

because it seemed ridiculous that someone could actually be "empty inside"

And then we were

And we still are

And it's not funny anymore

It was never funny

But we laughed

And we still laugh

But this time

we laugh at the irony.

Absolutely! Everyone needs to read this. It shows a great deal of the society around us, and we can easily pretend things are a joke when we know deep inside, they aren't.
