A mind needs books
like the sword needs a whetstone...
Words seeking words
upon ageing parchment
discovering passions portrait
beauty from their eyes holder.
Reading books keeps the mind sharp
like a swords point after whetstones lick.
Stories in all their splendor
feeding the intellectual mind
cripples... bastards and broken things
prefer words over the swords bite.
The mind is a weapon
more violent than the sword.
Books vs the sword in the minds eye
but perhaps that is the secret
it's not what we do
so much as why we do it
Be proud of the mind you hold
vs the swords bite.

Interesting writing Katie )) i don’t read that much
Clever words katie, books always win in my life.

Good write Katie.
Yes, Kitty should read some books. No, not THAT sort, Kitty. Something to dampen her down. Some dull history book of 'My Adventures In Singing', or something similar. lol.
utilise your mind's, intuitive whetstone
to sharpen what you glean of books..
and neither steel or word
can threaten your heart's
gaiety for life..
a lovely read, thanks for sharing dear Poet
