What is it about her?
Her words pull me into her world,
A world of romance and loss.
Every time I pick up her books
I am lost in her words.
Just a ten minute read
Turns into an hour.
I read her words every night,
And if I awake in the night
I read even more.
This wonderful author grips me,
Grips me by her writing
And I never tire of her.
I would never have read her
Back a few years ago
Where spies and adventures
Pulled me into those books.
But now I have changed,
Changed into what?
Maybe I have changed,
Changed into a romantic
In the evening of my life.

Good write Gold.
Thanks Orchi.
Well I dunno, seems you've come over all strange.Maybe it's a side effect of bashing coloured balls through hoops or something. Just make sure you don't start liking music or walking alongside flowing water.... people will start thinking youre human.
Human or humane d a.
Liking music and walking by flowing water - I may have to give them a go.

(really like the last two lines Andy
warm, romantic tones
reflecting the sunshine of Spring
we're currently, revelling in..
a lovely read!)
btw, have yet to read her books would you recommend one for me to try first
as an intro to her style..
(although, I'm not into authors
that make their characters suffer dramatically, endlessly
as merely a tool for their regurgitating plotlines
unless it's done cleverly
with humorous sensitivity
like the Notebook or great expectations)
All her books seem to pull me in Mek, one that you may like to read is "The Coordinates of Loss", it is one just picked at random but I know it is one that hooked me.
Thank you for you kind words.
Andy
ok will read it over the weekend, thanks Andy
Andy, I'm in the same boat. I love to read. Right now I'm reading the biography of Carl Sandburg by Penelope Niven. Excellent read. I enjoy your poem. Thanks for sharing. Oh, and your song, too.
Thank you rr, reading has so much power for us to enjoy.

I always find it's all about the read.
In saying that, I usually give a book twenty pages to grip me, and then it's gone.
Thank you Paul, I have read many books but many, many years ago when 'The Day of the Jackal' by Frederick Forsyth came out I started to read it and got a bit fed up with it after twenty or so pages but then I got hooked and it is the only book that I have read in one go!
Andy
Dear Goldfinch, First of all this is a wonderful poem. If you've turned into a romantic be proud. Secondly, "He Ain't Heavy" is one of my very favorite songs and it's hard for me not to play it over and over. Thirdly you've given me an new author to explore. What a wonderful day!
Thank you Bella, glad I have made your day.

Many a man scoffs at the thought of being a romantic. But love for one woman will be his biggest weakness, while also his greatest strength. 🌹
