i will comfort you

dusk arising

and when the wind
has blown all those leaves
under your door
and your favourite tree
can give no more
please let me be the one
to put those leaves back
back up there on your tree
let it be me

  • Fay Slimm.

So utterly moving and what more can a friend offer than help to another who is suffering. A verse to go straight to my list of favourites dear Dusk.

Thank you Fay. Honoured to make your favs list. As i just mentioned to Teddy, this was pure fantasy but i feel I've been there somewhere along the line.

Had you waited a long time to make that offer, dusk?
My somewhat literal mind sometimes has trouble with such metaphorical imagery, but not here.
I'm not overly fond of open endings; is there a follow up?

      • dusk arising

Sorry no, it is what it is. I probably waited years too long knowing someone had beat me to it.

A wonderful metaphor stated in a very moving manner. It is an ingenious play on words as well. All those leaves taken for all the times that a person left. To put them back on the tree is a wonderful way of saying that their absence is forgotten, Well done

Thank you sorrenbarrett. I thought fallen leaves was a super metaphor. When we see a naked autumnal tree gone is it\'s former fruitful beauty. (Although a tree does of course retain its beauty of form through autumn and winter).

          Very well written Beautiful...
Simple and so positive like you said earlier.

I try LOL. It's often difficult to know how little to write in a "less is more" sort of way. Thank you alice.

Very nice description of what a good friend can do💛🙏
