Dirty Water
Listen to those children crying, all are hungry, while some are dying
and the water here is more alive and crawling
than elsewhere, in so many other places darling, what we gonna do ..

So sad (( wish it wasn’t like that .
Thank you for your insight, support and understanding VB (utbyr) .................. Neville
A terrible situation N.
.. Yes, sadly it still is .. & on a planet that is made up of so much of it too .. thank you Mr. O
Context: who, Nev? "sad, wish", "terrible", "grass, rain" - wot's it all about?
844 million people lack access to safe drinking water. This is more than the combined populations of the United States, Brazil, Japan, Germany, France and Italy. Dirty water is making many people sick At any given time, half of the world’s hospital beds are occupied by patients suffering from a water-related disease.
Dirty water is therefore clearly dangerous & every year 3,575,000 people die from water related diseases. This is equivalent to a jumbo jet crashing every hour ... N
Thanks for all that ,Nev - I understood that access to water would become a problem very soon given climate change and ever increasing world population; I was not very conscious of the situation right now.
(Speaking of right now, The east coast of Australia has a super abundance of the stuff.)
Easy access on the net when I knew what I was looking for. Thanks again!
'Tis a mark of the quality and depth of the MPS community that the three preceding commentators were so aware of the situation embodied in your piece - such a stark contrast to my ignorance.
A bold and essential poetry
The world reeks of alcohol
But no pure water for the simple soul
As summer advances
Not the news of nations drying
But news of enormous population vanishing
Very essential dear Neville
Truly you spoke the true words
Penned and justified
thank you so much for your understanding Spills ........................ another greatly appreciated visit 🙂
Straight away i thought of the besieged people in ukrain cities having to drink water of any kind, sewage and heating system waters. Yet in many parts of the world people have been drinking contaminated water all their lives it seems.
Water a basic human need regardless of politics and race. Why cant we solve this basic problem.
Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesh, I wish I knew the answer DA .. but unfortunately, I fear that it will be a long time before what many of us take for granted is available and safe enough for all those who are so desperately in need of clean water ............................................. Neville
Considering that 60 % of the human body is made up of water, you'd think we'd show a lot more respect. Love what you've written.
Thank you Bella, I really do appreciate you visiting my latest little scribble .. Neville
Neville,
‘what we gonna do ..‘
What are we going to do?!
An easy question with a difficult answer.
Laura🌻
you have hit the nail squarely on its proverbial head dear Laura ........ in the meantime, I remain deeply concerned about the whole situation ....................................... N 🌻x
Emotive words Neville when there is so much we can do to help but those who are able to help are just not willing to help.
Andy
I fear you may be write & it truly sickens me Andy ....................... N
our H2O crisis, encapsulated
within such scarce, poignant words
poetry's aesthetics, reflecting
its empathetic message
yes, indeed
it will be our children
picking up
consequences: hefty Bill..
(heartachingly, depressing
to know this is our reality
despite all our progress)
an important write, dear Poet
cheers Mek please excuse the delayed response kind sir ..
