What Legacies Will Be Left Behind

FallenAngel1๐Ÿ•Š

What kind of legacies will be left behind

By the artists of today

Theft by design

of yesteryears

brilliant mind

Remix this old song

Put a new beat to that old tune

Is it just me

Or am I wrong

Is anything new

Do these kids not know how to write their own damn song

And not just style and fluff

Give me substance

Write something truly meaningful

Enough’s enough

“Today’s music ain’t got the same soul”

Just give me old time Rock & Roll.

Thanks Teddy. The old music just has that magic that makes your feet do things without even thinking about it.๐Ÿ˜Š

Oh I do know where you're coming from but I'm sure my parents thought the same thoughts when I was the young audience of 'popular' music.

Young people today know their life on the street experience as something quite different to how it was in my day and that's reflected in what they find popular. Love is of course a perpetual theme and i don't somehow see that one dissappearing anytime soon.

But maybe, as a musician, my view is a bit tainted. I had to entertain folk by playing a lot of stuff i just didn't like but there were plenty that were a real pleasure to play too.

Your poem is so relatable! In my 70's now, I enjoyed the days when there was a discernible melody to a song, and I could sing along. This aged ear has troubling tuning into music of today, and that's OK. I know where to find what I love to listen to. Your last 2 lines say it all, it will never die. Great write!

Thanks Bella. The abundance of great and truly meaningful music those stoned hippies gave the world is truly a timeless gift. As far as Iโ€™m concerned. Cheers to the good old days๐Ÿฅ‚๐ŸŒน๐Ÿ•Š๐ŸŒž

Absolutely, we are the fortunate ones who were able to live it!

Yes Iโ€™m sure every generation wonders about the younger generation. I can remember my parents shaking their heads in wonder about me in my teen/young adult years. You sound like an old blues musician who has to learn other types of music to please your audience like so many of them had to back in the day. But I truly donโ€™t believe any of todayโ€™s artists making music today like Mariah Carey,Miley Cyrus,Sean Mendez, ect ect will be heard on the radio 30,40,50 years from now like so much of the music from the 60โ€™s and 70โ€™s is still being heard and listen to today. Thatโ€™s how great that music is. It stands the test of time. So much of it is truly timeless. Thatโ€™s whatโ€™s missing from todayโ€™s young musicians. Timelessness. Cheers to the old days๐Ÿปโ€ฆhope for the new๐Ÿ•Š

The older music seems to have so much more meaning behind it, nowadays, it's about cheating and drinking

So true WJG, the songs of today are just not as good as those of our past.
