portrait of grandpa

portrait of grandpa

grandpa is asleep in his favorite reclining chair

awakes awhile and reads the newspaper

then back to the land of dreams

birds are singing outside, the house is too quiet

I wonder if great grandma whispers him lullabies from heaven

What a wonderful picture you've painted with words. I enjoy this "homey" feel I get reading and you've truly done a great job expressing yourself.

Sounds like how my grandfather was, except he was always in a lawn chair

Loved it. I'm a grandpa and I can relate to being asleep in la-la land. Great write. Thank you for sharing.
