men like to romanticize the sea,
and with a mistress like that,
can you really blame me?
but the sea does not care
for my affections,
the pretty words that i spin
to describe her beauty
and this is something that
must not be forgotten,
that this great watery expanse
cares not for your boats
or beating red hearts
for she will drown you
just the same
and yet, once named
the search will not stop,
or the loss will haunt you
sometimes, lover,
the call of the sea
sounds like your name
and i have searched for you
as long as there has been
breath in my lungs
and with a love like that,
can you really blame me?

Nicely penned poem
Nice write,take care.
I really enjoy the scene you're presenting. It's quite vivid with the ocean analogy and I sense this theme of love being gotten and lost. It's quite bittersweet.
Great write.
The sea, probably the greatest temptress ever.
outstanding comparison & contrast
great job poet

Incredible poem in such a short time from the last. The sea and love is a theme that works very well for you; now and in the past.
A hoist of a pint in your direction!
I don’t usually get that many poems written in such a short time. It feels like writing about being in love is a good source of inspiration. Falling in love with a pirate made me fall even more in love with the sea for sure!
Like the new pic. btw!
Why thank you, my friend! I got Lasik on Wednesday, and as I no longer wear glasses, figured an upgrade was in order 😁
