What once was ours

Saxon Crow

What once was ours

Can be found again

The forgotten, remembered.

The old ways returned

What once was natural

Like the seasons come and go

Just watch the horizon

The trees and the birds

What Gods lay there dormant

Can be woken again

The cave in our hearts

Will echo their names

What senses we had

Can be sharpened in time

The language of instinct

Honed to the woodpeckers chime

What once made us human

Calls every single day

And to live without it

Drives our spirit away

What once we discovered

Is a truth of this world

We all are connected

And are forever reborn

    Good write SC.
I'm hearing that woodpecker - and crow?!

    • Saxon Crow

Have you heard a crow? Raucous, noisey and full of mischief!

      • orchidee

They're a lovely size though, and shiny black coats.

We are all connected (reminds me of Manifest). Love it.

      • dusk arising

Great words of rebirth in this our wicked world.

even devoid of any theological alignment
I relate to the positivity in your theme
        let us hope
a day will be realised, when such ideal's
        can breach our reality
and offer us, a tangible path
        towards
        consideration and equality
for all, in our beautifully diverse
        humanity..
        thanks for sharing, dear poet

Great write Sax. If only those with selective hearing would really listen.
