Cajoled.
I looked for the good life but see
in late summer
a yearning for time to spin back
to the spring
where plans stood pine-tall and
future cajoled
us with hope so flattery's grasp
we held closer.
We laughed at inordinate hurry
of moments and
made fun of those cross-roads
looming ahead,
now tho' with loneliness pared
down to the bone
I know that time's shadow was
destined to flow.
Days weep for the nights when
moonglow lit hearts
yearning for paradise but 'tho
winter approached we
wisely coped, so why was one
star made to fly in
unexplained orbit yet its mate
may not follow ?

These lines are very precious dear Fay
It seeks the individuals
It seeks nations wide
Tomorrow holds a promising future
So we walk merrily
Persuaded in our heart
Everyday shall be a glory
Yet at times life takes by surprise
We may end up somewhere far off where we thought to be
I could see your lines reflecting in our lives
So true dear Fay
Good write Fay.
Brilliant!
Oh crikey, story of my life or what? Straight away i know this is going in my favourites.
Beautifully written soulful poetry of life. 'Killing me softly'
Fay, you seldom include yourself expressly in your poems, and that is an admirable, challenging thing you do so magnificently... but when you become confessional, it is perfect!
I felt sad reading the last few lines of your poem. A beautiful piece.
Beautiful emotive words Fay.

tis a fact, a sure fact of life that this happens & so often .. dreams are shattered, sometimes in an instant .. and sometimes over varying periods of time ... you have painted a most vivid picture of a process that none of us look forward to .. x5 stars awarded .............. N x
Just as seasons change so does our mood,
But may I offer ‘thoughts of food’,
In bitter cold of Winter, we long for Spring
Borrow your words of wisdom n warmth, waiting to spring
