Eve Of Easter

Tune: Passion Chorale

('O sacred head, sore wounded')

Matthew 27 v.57-66 parts

*********

Jesus was in new tomb laid

Price of our sins had paid

Joseph, see from the town he

Arimathea be

And with Nicodemus too

Came to Pilate, 'tis true

Asked that he make take, bury

Jesus, body meekly

Two Marys, they were witness

To see the scene, e'en this

Joseph laid body to rest

Rolled stone to tomb's door, lest

Any do come for to steal

Pilate said, Soldiers, seal

The entrance, make the guard sure

Safe from the thief's allure

Quiet interval there be

Sorrow and aguish see

Yet Jesus His promise kept

To rise, though there they wept

Soon Easter morning dawning

O'ercomes the dark, each thing

The cross before the crown be

Then lasting victory

Beautiful Orchi, I bet that it was wonderful to see that empty tomb, with the shroud of linen laying there empty, and then to be Mary when He revealed Himself to her, what a glorious day that was
