A Bit of Tradition/A Bit of Nostalgia

Laura🌻

This is how I remember this day...
This special day my parents called

LA PASQUETTA

They would get that picnic basket ready With all our favorite foods and               Their special bottles of wine

And off we would go!

Depending where we were at the time,      We would go to the mountains or a park or a beach or our backyard

Location didn’t matter!

It was all about this very special day
A special day of being together                                  Together picnicking al fresco

...Roman-Style...

To celebrate the season with family and friends!

  • Comment from author about the poem: In many countries, today is a holiday. If you’re working, no worries. Pack up some leftovers from yesterday’s celebration and spend your lunch outdoors. Appreciate the wonders of Spring...even if it is snowing in some parts of the world! The spirit of La Pasquetta (Little Easter) can be enjoyed anywhere!

I feel beyond delighted to FINALLY coincide my activeness on MPS to one of your posts. This one is glorious. I actually wasn't aware of this Italian celebration. However, thanks to your poem, I've done some research about it now. I love this prolongation of the happy atmosphere following the day of Easter. I wish I were there with you. Wonderfully done.

Your words brought back wonderful memories of family picnics with my very young son and daughter, wife and dog in a beautiful part of Gloucestershire which I still visit to this day.

Viva La Pasquetta and all who dine.

I have not heard of this. It's wonderful. Thank you Laura.

I have already read your poetry in the past and I remember this one because it's so very special, where ever we are in the world we can still keep those home traditions, an Italian picnic is truly something everyone should sample. Cheese wine and fruit with maybe a bit of home made tiramisu. Beautiful dear Laura. ❤️
