I,
The stasis in colorless fluids –
I,
The residue of Love.
I believe...
I am breathing,
My incubation has warmed my plumes –
I, the living Embryo – am ripe.
I sense this space is getting too tight –
Lift – the beak until it’s upright.
Peck, peck, peck – Light.
Behold, the eggshell’s cracked –
The morning engulfs my pupils –
And I see.
And I see.
Whoosh, dip, dive, around...
Surrounds me – Full spectacle of flight –
Forested air, humid, sparkling –
I swear it’s almost fizzing.
As the wings encircle me –
My mandibles begin to plead – open me please.
My claws, and thighs, ask – release this tension.
I stretch my being – and my spine aligns...
And the ones around – elevate beyond my eyeline –
With an ascent, and swoop, and dancing spirit –
Around the nature’s distilled purity –
Flowers blush in pinks and ruby radiance –
And the nest below my feet seems dull now –
I want to join the chirps, and the rich prismatic twinkles –
Each passing bird flutters a trace of pixie dust as they fly by,
And I want to test my own wings.
Thou beauty,
Art so wonderous –
Golden are the wings – that pass me by –
And – inspire.
Approaching the edge of my branch –
I breathe in the beaming sense of existence –
And I live –
And I live –
And I see –
And I see –
And I dive.

- Comment from author about the poem: Hello beloved MPS. This poem centers on inspirations, and our influences. The world around us subliminally feeds our brain. And I, personally, have been moved by many people, not only influential and famous writers, but also from poets here on MPS. So this is an ode to our inspirational fuel. π£π€

Such an engaging writing I really like this ! That sense of awe we feel when looking around us .. like that little bird amazed at the world
Beautiful writing ππ
Thanks abundantly Violet! This poem is definitely talking to that amaze we face when observing the world. It all seems so grand and vast and sometimes we can feel like nothing compared to its splendor, but when seeing others flourish and thrive in life, it can really inspire. Thankfully, many poets here on MPS have been able to invigorate my writing and have served as a source of inspiration for me, and I'm grateful. I humbly appreciate your review, it's truly cherished. Have a wonderful day! π
It can inspire .. but I guess it can also create feelings of envy / even jealousy sometimes .. if weβre in a difficult place abs we see others reaching their goals / and having so many experiences ,, we can then compare and wander where are mine but I understand what you mean ..we can feel so small sometimes
Hope you have a good day too
Great, really liked this
Thanks a bunch Tallis! I strive to create poetry that'll connect with others, so to see you felt my words means a lot. Sometimes all we need is a nudge from another to get us moving. Have a beautiful day! β¨
A fine write Rocky.
Thank you kindly Orchi! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Spread those wings!
Ye have done a fine write Rocky! Carry on with ye poems. I'm over-doing the 'ye' now! Do shut up Orchi. lol
Yes, sometimes we never stop to actually see what is around us.
Maybe that's the human condition, constantly on the rubber band stretching for something or praying for the immpossible.
Paul, these words are right on. Oftentimes, the inspiration we don't see, is right in front of our eyes. When we observe others, like other writers or other poets, we learn through their words and their emotions, and therefore, we feel inspired. It's almost contagious, I guess that's the beauty of poetry. Thanks for your kindhearted words, it truly means a bunch. Have a great day!
... what an original post you have pinned here today Rocky ..
... and I live and I learn and I learn & I live .......................... Neville π
Yes, yes, indeed dear Neville. My repetition in this poem was inspired by Maya Angelou's uplifting piece entitled "Still I Rise." This is a poem that speaks to our influences, and the weight they hold over our success. It's quite amazing really just how much people can inspire other people. Have a fine day! β¨
And you fly ! Yes you do, we see it.
What a super way to convey your message in this poem. I was intrigued and very quickly smiling whilst reading.
Great creative work and a message for us all.
Oh, dear Dusk. Words can't compare to the amount of gratitude in my heart. Thanks so much. I truly strived to craft something that'll ring to each reader and to see you felt my message means so much. Our inspirations can really be like a "swoop" of a bird flying by, it's something quick that we have to grasp while it's there. Have an amazing day beloved Poet! π
A fine write, Rocky.
Hello Jerry! It's so nice to see you by. I love to create poetry that'll make the reader truly piece together the puzzle pieces I present. So to see you grasped the whole shebang is truly reassuring. This is centered on our influences, and so many beloved poets here on MPS have gladly been an inspiration for me. Thanks a bunch for the review, have a blessed day! π
Yes I have learnt much from the poets on this site, young and old and they have given me encouragement and motivation to continue writing. And I am an old person learning to write poems! Your poems are really original and definitely connect. So keep on writing your fine poems. Thank you.
Oh, Rozina! You're so generous and kind. You truly have a heart that's worth so much. My poems, I feel, are for the people. It's a sort of selfless act; I don't write for myself, but for others. So whenever someone says that they felt what I was going for or that they connected with my words it truly has a grand effect on my esteem. We are all inspired by our varying muses, and you are definitely one of mine. Have a wonderful day! π
Very nice write Rocky.take care.
Thanks a ton dear Dean. Hopefully you connected with the message and maybe the imagery evoked images to mind. It was my goal. Stay safe and have a great day! π‘
Eye opening. It is not only at birth or childhood that we can awaken to this world but at every instant as we see things from a different light a different angle. Anthropomorphism a wonderful tool as is the metaphor. Almost a parable or fable. Well done.
Yes, and yes! Your words are so beautiful and ring so true to the message I was going for. Right from birth, we're presented to a myriad of influences, whether it be others or simply the world around us. We all gather our inspirations from different sources, so I wanted to convey this as a message of enlightenment. We're all enlightened by our muses, and that could be like a flying bird leaving "traces of pixie dust" as they fly by. It's truly magical. It's also nice to see you highlighted my personification in this piece, I definitely wanted to make the imagery and metaphor shine in this piece. Thanks as always for the generosity, have an amazing day! π£
Absolutely wonderful Rocky, really captivating poem
Thanks a bunch! I'm truly glad to see you connected with the poem. So many here on MPS serve as that token of inspiration, and it can be like a "fizzing" forest atmosphere I find myself in; just ready to be witnessed and inspired. All thanks to you, the reader, who makes my poetry possible. Have a glorious day! β¨
You're sweet Rocky, many times I find inspiration here on MPS myself, there's real talent here, I should thank Julian
The uniqueness and how easy flowing this was written! You had my attention from the start. I love the message Rocky!!!β€οΈ
Thanks abundantly! It's so nice to see you by my poetry. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I write from the heart. All the emotions and ideas that "fly by" I try to capture before it's too late. I want to be inspired, and hopefully, inspire others. Have a marvelous day!
Itβs as if my muse which awakens
Itβs as if when my spirits take a flight
Where I feel I can conquer all my fears in mind
Very powerful and encouraging words dear Rocky
It surely gives me the strength, the inspiration and motivation
All the thanks goes to you! I truly appreciate your kindhearted words. This poem centers on those "wings" that fly pass us and, in turn, inspire. Life is all about living, seeing, and doing. Hence, those final lines, "And I live / And I see / And I dive." And thankfully many MPS poets, like you, have been able to bring me that inspiration and passion. So thank you. Have a wonderful day!
