Played On Words

They say you miss all the shots you don’t take,

but after this, I am withdrawn.

I have heard to never judge a book by its cover,

but I read you completely wrong.

I was taught to shoot for the stars,

but I bit off more than I could chew.

The pain feels like daggers, but the journey was a song,

and maybe in the future, I can appreciate how far I’ve come along.

In my heart, I am being genuine and true,

when I give my best efforts to climb the mountain that was you.

  • Rocky Lagou

A spectacular piece fellow poet. I felt the emotions you were going for and the mountain analogy is spot on.

I echo Rocky’s comments. And maybe your not aware, but it was Wayne Gretzky who said “you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.” Cheers 🥂🌹🕊🌞

"He oído nunca juzgar un libro por su portada,

    pero te leí completamente mal."
    Épico!!!!!

  • Rozina
