Thomas' Tale

orchidee

Tune: St Albinus

('Jesus lives! Thy terrors now....')

John 20 v.24-29 parts

*********

Jesus to disciples shown

But first time not to Thomas known

Eight days later shows again

Thomas among disciples then

Alleluia!

Jesus said, peace be to you

To Thomas said, Reach here and view

Place finger in my hands, see

Too my side, where I wounded be

Alleluia!

Be not faithless but believe

Thomas said, was with no deceive

My Lord and my God you are

I worship you near, not afar

Alleluia!

Jesus said to Thomas, You

Have seen me, so you believe true

Blessed are they that have seen not

Me, but believe, favoured their lot

Alleluia!

The art of expressing, one’s true feeling, is well endowed in your words, here and always.

Had that thrust down our throats yesterday in a service that only confirmed why my faith in organised religion has left me.

Oh, you had that theme. It would have been our theme on a two year rota, if it was the 'other' year.
