Tune: St Timothy
('O Holy Ghost, thy people bless')
1 Samuel 3 v.1-10 parts
************
Lord, help us listen and to hear
And sense your presence near
What you will speak in word or sign
Help us to you align
We hear our fellow men, but more
Important it is sure
To hear your word, your call obey
As Samuel in his day
For young he was, in temple stayed
With priest Eli and prayed
Your night-call to him, 'Samuel'
You knew his name right well
Eli did say to him, 'If He
Call you again, so be
Say, "Speak, Lord, for your servant hears
Give me grace, calm my fears"'
For you Lord say, 'Man does not live
On bread alone', you give
The life-giving words, more import
Than all men's worldly thought
