Destiny Calls

Accidental Poet

The wonders of the Universe

I shall ponder from time to time

Wondering where within

Is the answer to this love of mine?

The love I feel for her

Came over me so long ago

But it seems like yesterday

A vise grip hold that won’t let go

Her smile that lives in me

The fire that never fades away

She fills the hours that pass

My heart joyful everyday

Though she left many years ago

Still, she’s my very world

What she left behind

Worth more than fortunes of pearls

I told her

I’d always love her so

No matter where life takes me

For her my heart will always show

True, she’s not by my side

At least not physically here

And yet, she never left me

My ship of love she steers

She’s there as the brilliant Sun

Rising in the morning sky

And again, when the stars they shine

Twinkling before my eyes

How blessed I have been

With endless love I did fall

To her I give my life

Destiny calls

It's always calling. There are many things worth giving a life for, and in my humble opinion love is one of those things. A brilliant write of effort and dedication, and the yearning for willingness. An enjoyed read.

Thank you Nicholas for your reading and complimenting my poem. πŸ˜‰

    • Distant View

Some people live their whole life without ever having known a love like that. Sad that she is not there with you, but a love like the one you describe here is indeed worth more than any worldly fortune! Clearly written straight from the heart!

Thank you so much Distant View. As the saying goes, "Better to have loved and lost, than to never have loved at all". I knew at 10 years old that Sharon was special when I first set eyes on her. And at 14 when she had to move away, I knew I'd more than likely never see her ever again. But...I also knew that I would never fall out of love with her. What has amazed me over the years is how much this love has grown in nearly 55 years. She's been gone now 51 years in June. And still she lives in the core of my heart. And I've never ever regretted her being in my life. 😊

Thank you Christina. I too wish I could be near her, as she is near to me. Some people think it's sad, but it's never been sad to me. Sharon has always had a positive influence on me. 😊

Thanks Rozina. I have to admit the song video really helped put me in the mood for writing this one. 😊

Her love shines very bright, in you morning, noon and night. So romantically prosed.
