Tune: Capetown
('Gracious Spirit, Holy Ghost')
**********
O Lord, support us all day
And e'en through each night we pray
All through this troublous life here
Hold us to you dear
Until shades do lengthen out
Evening comes without a doubt
And the busy world hushed is
Give us rest, true bliss
And when fever of life o'er
Our work done here then for sure
Then Lord in your mercy give
Good things, that we live
Grant us safe lodging, abode
A holy rest, your love showed
Unto us, and peace at last
When earth's troubles past

But never lead us to premiere sin!
Thanks SC.
That's one heck of an elaborate name. Really getting to this Old English sky comma stuff. Know what they would've called me back in the day? A "ne'er do well".
Thanks N. Nope not a 'ne'er do well', but a pussycat. lol.
Well, there's 8 previous poems posted in this FFP Series (Formal Funerary Prayers) on here, and one more to follow!
Is life troublous for ya? Is it like a fever for ya? Sometimes it is for all of us, I suppose. It is if I sing to ya. lol.
now that's what I call formal ..
Thanks N. lol.
Good one Orchi.
Thanks Gold.
