Heavenly Help

Tune: Duke Street

('Fight the good fight')

2 Chronicles 20 v.10-17 parts [Old Testament]

*********

In time of Jehoshaphat's day

He King, and people they did pray

For help against the enemy

Ammonites, Moabites they be

O God, they said, will you not judge

Them? They make our lives daily drudge

Help us, for we have no might here

To o'ercome them when they appear

It be a great company that

Comes against us, we know not what

To do, but our eyes are on you

Men, women, and all children too

Jahaziel, prophet replied

The Lord shall help, in Him confide

For He shall fight battle for you

You shall know His salvation true

This story goes on to say that they went out to battle singing and praising the Lord.
There's a legend that I was among them, and my singing scared off the enemy! heehee. Probably true.

You did scare off the enemy but you couldn't scare off KP.

      Thanks Gold.

We could all do with some heavenly help sometimes.

Was it meant the be The King instead of He King S1L2?
Wedding hymn and battle cry! Resounding. Would love to worship in a service that uses these hymns. /Rik.

Thanks Rik. Could be typo, or could be 'He' by way of explanation. You familiar with that King J. guy?!
I know a service that DON'T use these sort of hymns, but endless 'Choruses' - drive ya mad sometimes. I wouldn't mind, except it's same ones about 3 weeks in a row. Doh!
I've parted company with them now.

That's what I thought at first, ole King J. Hardly opened these days. And a once over is enough for me, thanks. Not the best when we wear things down. Too much of a good thing, or summat. Cheers. Rik.

I don't mind some 'Choruses' but it's too much if they are bland and repetitive. It's either' caught up in the joy of it all' or 'agonisingly - oh no, they're gonna sing it yet AGAIN!' lol.

                • arqios

Lol. Only know it too well.

Arrgghh! You know it too. It's laziness I think. Can't get the staff these days? Can't be bothered (or a***d) to learn new songs? Or at least, have some different well-known ones! I cut down on the collection amount when the hat came round, as the 'entertainment' was not value for money! lol. (Erm, that's not quite the right attitude Orchi. lol).

I say that, but an old Colonel always sat in front row at church. He had a pile of coins for the collection. If preacher went on too long, he took some off the pile and put them in his pocket, and took more coins off, the longer the preacher went on.

Oh my, in my mind we had a trapdoor put in right behind the pulpit which would swallow up the preacher if ever needed. Naughty thoughts. LOL. But that Colonel is a class act!
