all in a dream

dusk arising

entranced aslumber o'er woodgreen moss
chanced whispers call and dance
into a dream a woodnymph trilled
to steal of hearts romance

            gossamer wings paint airy trails
            through twighlight's eerie hue
            where floating fairy fingers lead
            beneath bows of deja vu

and there a star, a dream fortold
            of love so long subdued
yeilds a clue and stole a heart
            a leaf shaped silver shoe

through carpet green oer tumbled root
bracken thorn and sinued vine
flight of nymph guides light of moon
race of heart and dreams entwine

across the seeds of hope's reveal
           bathed in starlight's mercurial pond
the princess of the greenwood dell
           sensed promise of beyond

upon the shore of restless night
           now a saviour figure stands
the key of future promise held
a leaf shape in it's hand

betwixt the realms of nightfalls sigh
and leafsfall daylight's drone
where woodnymph play neath dragons beard
a dream may rest its home

for each sleeping prayer on lip becomes
words of woven quilt to treasure
when midnight creatures fascinations bring
to our slumbers worthy pleasure

Wow, this was truly one heck of a journey Dusk. Thanks. Your imagery is phenomenal and this painted world feels so vivid and enticing. It's all one ethereal dream.

This is something I wrote a while back. It's good to reflect back upon writing this because I was in a rare poetic frame of mind that allowed romance with this fantasy world. An other worldly state really which i wish i could achieve more often. I can't force whatever it is but looking back I'm pleased it happens now and again.

This is great stuff. I personally love story poems, and this is a worthy portrayal of their value. The fantasy setting is ideal. the tone of the poem is spot on. Your phrasings and colorations are exquisite. "A leaf shaped silver shoe" is a masterful invention. What a dream! - Phil A.

To be honest I don't know where it came from. I'd love to be this creative more often rather than voicing memories or my grumbles on here. Thank you MF.

As I've said in comments here, I wish I could find the frame of mind i was in whilst writing this more often. I'm wondering whether some of it came out of a bottle LOL.
