lessons

dusk arising

lessons
ran before your eyes
.                         unseen

lessons
unravelled in your arms
.                         unfelt

lessons
staring back from
.                         yesterdays

lessons
upon a pale clock face
.                         tick - tock

Do we ever learn d a?

    Andy

    • dusk arising

Yes I believe we do but sometimes we are too young to learn at the time of the teaching.

      'tick - tock'
hammers home the urgency in your words
      wonderfully realised, a great poem
      with purpose..
I read and learn, thanks Dusk

The idea was that lessons are often untimely and the learning is done long after the teaching.

indeed! that's some distilled, sobering Truth...
reminds me of one of my own lines
          which went something like
          'what's the point of wisdom
if it arrives too late in our lives'..
(I wonder if we would still consider life
          as precious
if it was straightforward & easy to navigate?)
