Somewhere Down Turn Again Lane

Neville

Somewhere Down Turn Again Lane

It was somewhere down

Turn Again Lane where they both

first met and made love ..

It occurred ..

Just before they each said

their individual goodbyes, that was it

over and done, in a flash ..

That is a lane that some only unwittingly walk into, and others boldly rush towards. In my day all the rage/rave/whatever was the one night stand. Even that wasn't the best a person could achieve. Tomorrow is surely another day. Chin up, mate.

thanking you kindly for participating in this little social experiment ... I shall return the favour asap πŸ™‚

Oh, social experiment... would one day inquire about the mechanics of this particular experiment. Thanks, Nev. /Rik.

            reading your subtle words
            I can't help favourably
            comparing them
            to Bukowski's 'Layover'
the nuanced majesty, in your poem
            is in so much
            you purposely, keep unsaid
            and thus
            allow your readers memories
            to bespoke, fill-in
            the missing lines
            as they
            have experienced life..
            (such Artistic, restraint
            just can't be learned
            'in my humble opinion'
how I treasure you deft touch
            dear Poet supreme, thank you!)
            from 'Layover':
'That moment- to this. . .
may be years in the way they measure,
but it's only one sentence back in my mind-
            there are so many days
when living stops and pulls up and sits
and waits like a train on the rails.
I pass the hotel at 8
and at 5; there are cats in the alleys
            and bottles and bums,
and I look up at the window and think,
I no longer know where you are,
and I walk on and wonder where
            the living goes
            when it stops.'

Ah, images of butterflies on the wing on that one day they live for.... all that growing from a bug then to pupate and break free into flight all for one good shag.... well the human version has a lot more going for it... you can even stop by the pub and reflect as you eye up the barmaid. Mindfully contemplating your next conquest in the traditional crimson blooded male tradition.

I may be dumb for asking this but what is the Turn again lane?

              • Neville

I dont think you are dumb .. Turn Again Lane is a real place name in Canterbury England that has been around for several centuries & is relatively famous for just as many reasons ... and I am glad you asked .. Neville
