Know that poetry is life.

and life is a Marathon.

Blood, fret, and tears are common

but it’s what Poets thrive on.

Sitting to write, be prepared.

What comes next will be painful.

Perturbed, you will lose your hair.

Frustrated, and eyes rain full

if nothing else the experience

will be gainful.

  • Fay Slimm.

Never a truer set of words to describe the painful effort of penning a poem my friend. A marathon indeed yet one that proves gainful if we stay the course - love the thoughts in this -engaging read Phil.

Thank you, Fay. Maybe to some this poetry stuff comes easy, but I struggle with it. I\'m never satisfied that I\'ve done all I can to improve on what I\'ve written. And sometimes, it is hardest to just get started on something, and I find that this particular sequence helps to do that. Thanks again for reading this and for your encouraging comments.

I never knew there was so much to writing a poem. Well, I know now! heehee.

Thanks, orchidee. Well, it can be difficult at times.

Sheesh ......... it took me a while to fathom how to post my thoughts on your post Phil .. for several moments I had some kind of thought block .. but I am so glad I persisted and got here in the end .. and for no other reasons than
        1) I enjoyed the ride
        2) these words should resonate with all those who are serious about writing
        3) and those who only occasionally do
        4) because they accurately reflect reality and are therefore a universal truth in their own write
        5) and because they need to be read and indeed commented upon
        6) I rest my case ......... Neville

Thank you, Neville. Sometimes getting started is the most difficult part of writing. Many times, I have stared at the white screen for hours, days, weeks, ad infinitum. I have since started doing what I suggest in this poem. It seems to work for me, so I wrote this to share with others. Thanks again.
