Money Greed.

Goldfinch60

So many people want money,

It is the most important thing in their life!

But in gaining their riches

Without a thought for others

They are destroying our world

And one day they will realise

That when all the trees have been felled,

All the animals killed,

The water is full of pollution,

And the air is unsafe to breathe,

They will then come to realise,

That you cannot eat money.

Money is strange in the effect it has upon us. I'm at the puzzling stage were i have little use or desire for the stuff though it wasnt always so.
Being a young 'have not' gave me the desire to acrue monies though without the ready means. Someplace in the middle I suppose a happy medium was struck.

Most importantly though, the stuff which is meaningful now has so little to do with money though i see that I am in a fortunate position to be able to say so. I'm sure my point of view would be distantly removed from my comfort were i without a roof, food, clothing and relative safety and knew the little ones around me were starving.

There's so much taken for granted by us westerners. Your words made me think.

It surely does have a strange effect d a. I believe we are very fortunate to have enough to get by in this world when there are so many who are struggling yet those in power with all the money will do nothing to help others or protect the world.

Narcissism rules today and makes greed gather fortunes - when will they learn that neither brings freedom - - good points made Andy

Thank you Fay, I don't think that they ever will learn

Dear friend what a great write! Greed has no soul, no foresight, no conscience. It lives for the here and now, and too often it's rewards are transient, so that another fix has to be found to maintain the high. The saddest part is that to satisfy that greed they are destroying everything of value that makes life worth living. Thank you for sharing these words, they are searing and oh so true.

          • Goldfinch60

Thank you for your true words 'Greed has no soul' is so right.

            I can't disagree.
The love of money is the root of all kinds of evil.

            • Goldfinch60

              It surely is LMT.
