Promised Pentecost

orchidee

Tune: Down Ampney

('Come down, O love divine')

Acts 2 v.16-21 parts

********

Pentecost, your Spirit

You promised Lord, lives lit

With your living presence, we here now you sense

He comes to empower

Us daily, each hour

And in human hearts pleased to make residence

This is that prophesied

By Joel (Old Testament), 'tis none beside

Than Scripture's fulfilment, the Spirit you sent

Tongues, dreams, and prophecy

These things now sure shall be

To show God's glory, He works His good intent

And too wonders above

The Spirit, holy dove

And signs beneath, blood, fire, and vapour of smoke

Sun shall be turned to dark

Moon be turned to blood, hark

Before great day of the Lord come, no revoke

It shall come to pass so

That they the Lord shall know

Whosoever calls on His name shall saved be

Trusting your life within

Us, cleanse us her from sin

To go witness, that all the Saviour shall see
