history

dusk arising

what is it in our United Kingdom history
that can teach us about ourselves today
when once again we watch a warmongering
tyrant wave his iron fist in our faces

we can look back with certain knowledge
to a time when our nation was threatened
and there was talk of giving in
of appeasement, the waving of useless paper

but one man stood strong before us
above all others in our nation
he gave us his spirit, our spirit
to endure and live for victory alone

so today look around, at public figures
as that fist again shakes its wrath
where is the leader with dynamism to inspire
where is the great individual of today

to be sure they are not sitting on a fence of indescision
they are not watching their p's and q's
just as the greats before were not
who is it that shines a dynamic light of leadership
