Tune: Corpus Christi
('Jesus, in thy dear Sacrament')
Exodus 12 v.1-13 parts
*********
In days of old the Passover
Lambs were sacrificed sure
Blood out on the door frames, lintels
For a witness, it tells
Tells that a lamb is slain therein
That when plague did begin
To kill first-born of all the hand
By angel's judging hand
That when the Lord the blood did see
He passed over, did He
Those houses, and no death there found
They safe on secure ground
And in these days the Lamb of God
Jesus, this earth He trod
Offered Himself a sacrifice
To God it did suffice
Suffice to atone for our sins
And then new life begins
Forgive us, O God, have mercy
The blood of the Lamb see
It see, and graciously pass o'er
Our sins, though we for sure
Your judgements did deserve, but He
Christ, our atonement be
So we may live and give you praise
You save us all our days
Gospel, good news for all mankind
We pray all may you find

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 8.6.8.6. format. I could have posted this yesterday, the festival of Corpus Christi. It's not celebrated so much in the UK as it is in some other countries.

The new season and the new calendar in the Lord. Divine intervention at the finest.
