ghosts

verona

my world is shifting and all the girls i know
imagine dying alone before their time

human connection
that's the point of it all
but we're betting with paper money here
no use in praying to the rain gods,
in hope of a good harvest year.

they say the ones who love us never leave us,
they can barely bear to,
is this who you'll be to me?
someone i can hold onto
but oh so lightly?

the bad things never haunt me
as well as the good ones do
so no ghost lingers constant,
beside the ghost of you.

We are all haunted by the ghosts of our past, and by the actions of our former selves,….

I can certainly relate to this poem. The ghosts come and go, especially the older we get, and our perspective may shift with time. I love the way you have treated this subject!
